A Day in Pictou, the new Scotland

A lazy morning and chores cut into our sight seeing and shopping time. We walked some of the Jitney Trail trying our hand at geocaching to no avail. We were in need of groceries so the harbour master drove us to Sobeys and came again to pick us up - a taste of maritime hospitality at its finest. Unfortunately, the Hector Ship Museum closed before we got there. The Hector was the ship on which the first Highland Scots came to Canada in September of 1773. The Hector was 85' long and carried 198 people. This began a wave of Scottish immigration to Nova Scotia.
Not only was the museum closed, all the shops were too. As we were window shopping however, the shop owner saw us and came back and opened up the shop for us!  Beth was able to get a beautiful piece of stained glass - it was meant to be. LOL
A lovely evening was spent enjoying a "progressive" dinner aboard Summer Wine whereby each of us was responsible for a course. What fun....
